Welcome to The Sanctuary of Portland website, where we live our motto daily: Find Life, Embrace Truth, and Fulfill Promise. We are a growing and thriving body of believers bringing Christ’s message of hope to the Greater Portland area. We firmly believe that the Bible is the Word of God and its words bring life and light. Consequently, we proclaim the Gospel of Christ to everyone without reservation. We have found bread, and want to share it with “whosoever will” (Revelation 22:17).

After serving on the misterial staff of The Rock Church, in Sacramento, California for 15 years, my wife and I felt God's call to place our responsibilities as Assistant Pastor and Children's Ministries coordinator respectively, into the hands of other capable leaders and come to Portland to raise up a mighty church for His glory.

At The Sanctuary, there is a place for everyone, including the vitality of the oft neglected youth. Young people overflow with vitality and energy that needs to be focused to have a positive impact on our world. Here we strive to channel this energetic flow into productive avenues. The church provides an atmosphere that promotes excellence, and fosters creativity and ingenuity through music, education, leadership training and an emphasis on fulfilling tomorrow’s dreams by laying the groundwork today. Then, we encourage them to dream big!

The American family has fallen upon hard times. Real love and radical commitment have been subrogated by raging lust and acute self-centeredness. Shockingly, in just one generation we have watched as the bedrock of every successful civilization crumbled before our very eyes. We are truly in uncharted waters; “perilous times” to use biblical terms (II Timothy 3:1). We have not been here before and many view the future with increasing uncertainty. Because of the overabundance of iniquity the fabric of love which binds together the nuclear family has become frayed. The complete results have yet to be seen, but the prognosis for our children cannot be encouraging if we continue maintaining the status quo. Thank God, there is one place where the solution can be found!

The church has the answer. The times call for radical action. It is time for fathers to find the courage to lead their families in serving God regardless of what others do (Joshua 24:15), for mothers to keep homes safe from all foes both within and without (Titus 2:5), and for youth to be strong (1 John 2:14). In short, our nation needs a Great Revival to bring us back into the arms of safety. The Sanctuary is one such bastion, serving as a rallying point for those who are confident that the “Old Paths” still lead us beside the still waters and can restore our souls. Our church is filled with those who have found The Sanctuary to be a place of God’s empowerment to rise above the dysfunctions of the “old man” and walk “newness of life!”

Even in these uncertain times, there is a place where we can embrace the timely truths that bring freedom to our lives, protected from the maelstrom raging in our world today. Come to The Sanctuary. Find life again, embrace the only truth that brings freedom and hope for our world, and allow the Creator of all men to bring to fulfillment all the promise he formed us in the beginning. There is still time! May the light of God light your life (John 1:9) dispelling all darkness.
